In the video game industry, 2 dimensional race games are sometimes called
"bathtub races."
Compared with the 3D race games on other hardware platforms (including the
Gameboy Advance) these 2D games might seem like ancient technology.
However, some 2D race games like Micro Machines,
or RC Pro Am have been successful because they are still fun
to play.
When we wrote Test Drive 6, a mere 2D adaptation of a great 3D game, we knew that we had to put the emphasis on speed, but there is only so much that you can expect from a 1 mhz processor. But this game has undergone extensive play testing by a large team of testers. In the end we came up with a game that was both fun and challenging. And fast. At least for this hardware.
If you own a Gameboy Advance then you will be better off buying a true 3D race game. But if it is Gameboy racing excitement that you are looking for, then Test Drive 6 is a good bet.
One cool thing about Test Drive 6 is that it will work on both the original Gameboy and the Color Gameboy.
